Bereavement Support

We stay, after the goodbye

Compassionate counselor comforting a grieving woman in a warm quiet room

When your loved one dies, the casseroles stop coming. The phone stops ringing. The world moves on — but you don’t. Grief doesn’t follow a schedule. It arrives on birthdays and ordinary Tuesdays, in the grocery aisle and at 3 a.m.

Here’s our promise: our care doesn’t end at the funeral. Anova Care’s bereavement support walks with you through the first year and beyond — the year of firsts, when every holiday and anniversary reopens the wound. We’ll check on you, sit with you, and remind you as often as it takes: there is no wrong way to grieve.

Who it’s for

Bereavement support is for anyone in Denver or Colorado Springs who lost a loved one on our hospice — spouses, children, grandchildren, siblings, dear friends. Grief doesn’t check credentials. If you’re hurting after a loss, you belong here.

How to start

You don’t have to sign up or qualify — if your loved one was on our hospice, bereavement support comes to you. Our team will reach out in the weeks after the loss, and you can call (888) 929-2050 any time you need us. This support is part of the hospice benefit, provided at no cost to your family, and it continues for over a year after your loss.

Frequently asked questions

How long does bereavement support last?

Our formal support continues for over a year after your loss — through every “first.” And honestly? If you call us in month fourteen, we’ll still be here. Grief doesn’t expire, and neither does our care.

What does grief counseling actually look like?

It’s a conversation — unhurried, confidential, and entirely about you. Your counselor listens, helps you understand what you’re feeling, and offers gentle tools for the hard days. There’s no timeline, no stages you must complete, no homework. Just support.

I feel like I’m grieving wrong. Everyone else seems fine.

You’re not grieving wrong — there is no wrong. Some people cry for months; some feel numb; some feel relief and then guilt about the relief. Some grieve loudly, some quietly, some years later. All of it is normal. And “everyone else seems fine” — they’re probably not.

Is there a cost for bereavement support?

No. It’s part of the hospice benefit, offered to our families at no charge. Support shouldn’t come with a bill.
