Family Support
You don’t have to carry this alone

Here’s something many people don’t know: hospice cares for the family too.
You’re living this loss in real time — the grief that begins before goodbye, the exhaustion of caregiving, the decisions no one feels ready to make, the strange guilt of laughing at dinner while someone you love is dying upstairs. All of it is normal. And none of it is meant to be carried alone.
Our family support surrounds you with people whose entire purpose is to steady you: social workers who listen without judgment, counselors who understand grief’s strange shapes, and a team that learns your name and your story. While we care for your loved one, we care for you — because you matter in this story too.

Who it’s for
Family support is for everyone loving someone on hospice in Denver or Colorado Springs — spouses, adult children, siblings, grandchildren, close friends. If you’re holding it together for everyone else and falling apart in private, this is for you most of all.
How to start
Family support comes automatically with hospice care — it’s not an add-on, and it’s not extra. Call (888) 929-2050 and we’ll explain how it all works. Hospice, including every family support service, is covered 100% under the Medicare hospice benefit for eligible patients. Medicaid and most private insurance cover it too. There is no cost to your family.
Frequently asked questions
Is family support really part of hospice, or does it cost extra?
It’s truly part of hospice — built into the benefit, at no cost to you. Hospice was designed around a simple truth: when someone is dying, the whole family needs care. We take that seriously.
What is anticipatory grief?
It’s the grief that begins before death — mourning the person as they change, grieving the future you imagined, feeling loss while your loved one is still here. It’s real grief, and it deserves real support. Our counselors help you understand it and move through it.
Our family disagrees about care decisions. Can you help?
Yes — this is one of the most valuable things our social workers do. They facilitate honest, compassionate family conversations, help everyone feel heard, and guide you toward decisions centered on your loved one’s comfort and wishes.
I’m the strong one. Do I really need support?
The strong ones often need it most. Accepting support isn’t weakness — it’s wisdom. And the families who lean on us tell us they were able to be more present, more patient, and more at peace.
Let us hold some of this with you. Call Anova Care at (888) 929-2050 — we’re here for the whole family.
