Pain & Symptom Management
Comfort is the whole point

When healing is no longer possible, something else becomes possible: comfort. Real, deep relief — from pain, from the struggle to breathe, from the nausea and restlessness that steal peace from precious days.
This is what hospice does best, and it is what we devote ourselves to. Our nurses and physicians are skilled in the art and science of easing suffering: adjusting medications carefully to the person, not the chart; anticipating symptoms before they spike; and never, ever dismissing a family’s worry that their loved one is uncomfortable. If you’re lying awake wondering whether they’re suffering — please call us. Easing that fear is our work.

Who it’s for
This care is for anyone on hospice in Denver or Colorado Springs who is experiencing pain or distressing symptoms — and for the families who love them and can’t bear the thought of suffering. You don’t need to wait until symptoms are severe. The earlier we can help, the more comfort we can give.
How to start
Call us at (888) 929-2050 — any time. We’ll talk gently about what’s happening, explain how hospice works, and, if it’s the right step, arrange an evaluation quickly. Hospice is covered 100% under the Medicare hospice benefit for eligible patients — including all medications related to the terminal illness, equipment, and visits. Medicaid and most private insurance cover it too. There is no cost to you for hospice care itself.
Frequently asked questions
Will my loved one be in pain?
This is the question every family asks, and you deserve an honest answer: most pain and symptoms can be well controlled with expert hospice care. We monitor constantly and adjust quickly. Our promise is that we will work tirelessly — and we will believe you if you tell us something isn’t working.
Does pain medication hasten death?
No. This is one of the most common fears, and it’s a myth. When used properly under hospice guidance, pain medications ease suffering — they don’t shorten life. In fact, people who are comfortable often rest better and live more fully in the time they have. We’ll explain everything openly, as many times as you need.
Can all of this really be managed at home?
Yes — the vast majority of hospice symptoms are managed beautifully at home. That’s where most families want to be, and our team is built for exactly this. If a symptom ever needs more than home care can give, we’ll guide you honestly through the options.
What if the current medications aren’t working?
Then we change them. Symptom management is active, not passive — we reassess constantly, try new approaches, and consult our hospice physicians. “Nothing more can be done” is not a phrase you’ll hear from us about comfort.
No one you love should suffer. Call Anova Care at (888) 929-2050 — let us bring comfort home.
