Spiritual Care

Peace, in whatever form you find it

The end of life stirs the deepest questions. What has my life meant? Am I forgiven? What comes next? Will my family be okay? These questions belong to everyone — the devout, the doubting, and those who’ve never given it much thought until now.

Our spiritual care meets you exactly where you are. Our chaplains and spiritual counselors honor every faith, every tradition, and no faith at all. They don’t preach or persuade. They listen, sit with the hard questions, and help you find whatever peace looks like for you — a prayer, a memory, a quiet moment, or simply being heard.

What’s included

  • Chaplain visits shaped entirely around your beliefs and wishes
  • Prayer, scripture, ritual, or sacraments — if and how you want them
  • Life review and legacy conversations: telling your story, saying what matters
  • Comfort for spiritual distress — fear, guilt, anger, or a sense of unfinished business
  • Support for the family’s spiritual questions too
  • Coordination with your own clergy, rabbi, imam, or faith community — we welcome them, never replace them

Who it’s for

Spiritual care is for hospice patients and families in Denver or Colorado Springs who want spiritual companionship at the end of life — whatever that means to them. You don’t need to belong to a religion. You only need to be human, facing something enormous.

How to start

Spiritual care is part of hospice, available from the day of admission at no additional cost. Call (888) 929-2050 and mention that spiritual support matters to you — we’ll make sure a chaplain visits early and often. Like all hospice services, it’s covered 100% under the Medicare hospice benefit for eligible patients, and by Medicaid and most private insurance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be religious to receive spiritual care?

Not at all. Many of the people our chaplains visit don’t identify as religious. Spiritual care is about meaning, peace, and being deeply heard — things every person needs, regardless of belief.

Will you respect our specific beliefs and practices?

Completely. Tell us what matters — dietary customs, prayer times, rituals, who should or shouldn’t be present — and we will honor it. Our chaplains are trained to serve all faiths and none, without imposing their own.

Can our own pastor, rabbi, or imam stay involved?

Absolutely — we encourage it. Our chaplains coordinate with your faith leaders and make room for them. This is about surrounding you with familiar comfort, not replacing it.

What if I’m angry — at God, at the world, at everything?

Then you’re honest, and you’re welcome here. Anger is a natural part of facing mortality, and our chaplains have sat with it many times. You won’t be judged, corrected, or preached at. You’ll be heard.
